Introduction: “Why must it be me?” Sirius questioned, doing little to quell the growing frustration within himself. The room was lit by a single candle. It had nearly burned itself into a puddle of wax, yet it still burned brightly enough to offer light throughout the room. The illumination did very little to hide the bitterness gleaming behind his otherwise dull eyes. “Are you questioning me?“ The Guild Master leaned back, puffing thin smoke from his pipe. He didn’t give Sirius a chance to reply before speaking once more, “because it sounds like you’re questioning my judgment.” Sirius cast his eyes down, the tension eased slightly, though not completely. He huffed, not wanting to further insult a superior and friend. “What makes you think I can handle her?” This time his question seemed more genuine than before. “She’s surging with wild-magic. She’ll be completely unpredictable when it comes to training her within our ranks. Besides, I’m not a sorcerer. How can I mentor her? She’s completely out of my wheelhouse.” The Guild Master grunted sympathetically, smoking the last bit of his tobacco. “I’ve called on you to do this. I believe you’re the best man for it. You have more than enough discipline and skill to help her. Don’t make me call upon your debt to me. I don’t want to have to do that. Figure it out, Sirius.” That was all he had to say. That damnable debt. Sirius would seek out and find this Wild-Magic sorcerer, and he would help her, even if it’s the last thing he did. The Prompt: Hello! I really hope you’ve enjoyed my introduction and writing sample. Today’s prompt circles around your character, Sirius, having to seek mine out for a mentorship opportunity within a ranking adventuring guild. Your character doesn’t have to be named Sirius by the way, that was just a placeholder name to kick off the prompt. The idea is that my character is brimming with immense but unpredictable power. She’s sought out by all kinds of people for her raw abilities and is currently in hiding. A lot of people who seek her out have wanted to use her arcane energy for one reason or another. Despite the complexity of her Wild-Magic abilities, most people want to harvest her energy. Some people are even afraid of her, not liking what they don’t understand. This is where your character comes in. As stated, he’s a member of a high-ranking guild. He’s been tasked by the head master to retrieve this woman and offer her sanctuary, safety, and the ability to control and understand her powers within the safety of their walls. I had the idea that your character is very reluctant to do this, because maybe he has no real arcane abilities himself? (Though if you want him to be a fellow mage, that’s fun too!!) Maybe it seems like a chore to him, or perhaps way too much to deal with and he’s completely uninterested at first. I also flirted with the idea that he owes the guild a great debt, which could obligate him into this. Whatever the case, he finds my character and convinces her to train beneath him. Here we will have moments of slice-of-life, action, adventure, romance, and of course, smut. We can have the guild master task our characters to go on various quests and missions, plenty of opportunities for our characters to learn about one another, to bond emotionally and sexually, as well as have him learn how to help her control her Wild-Magic surges when they happen. Maybe her surges cause chaos, or maybe it’s more light-hearted and humorous at times? Overall, I do want them to grow closer as they know one another and for them to make some real progress with her unpredictable spell-casting. About me: I should go ahead and state that, while this prompt is D&D-inspired, no lore or actual knowledge is required. I’m also not looking for a DM/GM, nor to play as one. I love collaborative storytelling and I’d like this to be something we do together. I’m in EST/US. I don’t mind if your timezone is different. My responses can be sporadic at times, despite having decent availability. Despite my love for writing, IRL absolutely comes first and I will not pressure you for replies, and would like the same courtesy when I am busy. I like a casual “respond as able” low-pressure approach, with friendly OOC vibes if it suits you. My writing style is literate to advanced literate. I typically write 2-4 paragraphs but my response length is largely dynamic. It really depends on your preferences and how things flow.
